Format

Online

An online class is delivered 100% electronically using the internet or other computer-based methods. The teaching is conducted from a remote location through an online course learning management system or other online or electronic tools. Students have access to the teacher and classmates synchronously, asynchronously, or both. Online classes typically are term-based, but some may be offered in a self-paced format.

How to Apply

Admission to our certificate programs is open to all who have earned an undergraduate degree. Current degree-seeking students may also complete certificates as part of their studies in our Master's degree programs. Students entering the certificate programs should be professionally familiar with data networks and/or telecommunications networks.

Degree Requirements

Students entering the certificate programs should be professionally familiar with data networks and/or telecommunications networks. If students lack the professional or educational background, they should take one or both of the following courses and pass with a 3.0 GPA or better before enrolling in either certificate program. TLEN 5310 Telecommunication Systems; TLEN 5330 Data Communications​

State Authorization

The University of Colorado must be authorized, exempted, or licensed by each state to offer its online programs to non-Colorado resident students. Below is a list of states with restrictions on enrollment and activity. Students living in these states cannot enroll in any online course, program, certificate, or degree offered:

  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • District of Columbia
  • Utah

States with TBD or Not Set Status:

Students living in the following states must contact a program advisor before enrolling in the program:

  • Armed Forces Europe
  • Armed Forces Pacific
  • Guam
  • Puerto Rico
  • US Virgin Islands
